Have been having a wonderful beginning of summer. Playing lots of music, enjoying time with friends, playing chess, eating pizza. Got to hang out with a rabbit earlier while he ate a salad. It's just good.
This past month has been a busy month of creating new music with my friends. Had two CD release shows in the same night for Dan Klee's "Portraits" and Korgy & Bass's "Remote" with Cyrus Nabipoor, and recorded on Pablo Rivarola's album that is in the works, as well as working on some of my own music. Here's a clip of me playing with Cyrus and Korgy and Bass, getting ready for that show.
Here's some of what I've been listening to and learning recently:
Chic - My Forbiddden Lover: One of the best fingerstyle bassists playing one of the best basslines. This track BOPS.
The Adventure Zone: Not music, but crazy good D&D podcast I've been consumed by for over a year. Totally worth going from the VERY beginning and listening to all of it. Great for long car rides for sure.
Gorillaz - G-Sides: Realizing recently how many of my musical choices are defined by the early Gorillaz records and the sounds they chose. Going back to it is just so satisfying. Pop-infused dub/hip-hop and reggae that is ridiculously hooky.
These are a few of the gigs I've got coming up this month:
7/3: 3 Leg Torso with North Coast Symphonic Band - Astoria, OR
7/5: Noah Simpson at Teutonic Wines - Portland, OR
7/7: Illegal Son at Racer Sessions - Seattle, WA
7/8: Connor and My Friends CD Release Show at Plant House - Eugene, OR
7/9: Don Elkington at Roaring Rapids Pizza - Eugene, OR
