June Newsletter - So much to listen to...

I'm so addicted to music right now, you guys. Nothing but listening and playing and jamming, it makes me so happy. I'm so grateful I get to do this and share it with you all!!

I've got a new short video out on my Instagram and Youtube playing along with Alfredo Rodriguez's Yemaya from his album "Tocororo", which is an awesome record. I've been experimenting with chords and faster fingerstyle playing recently and having a blast with it.

Here's some of what I've been listening to and learning recently:

Earth Wind and Fire - Spirit: I just bought the whole box set of all of EWF's albums and it's ridiculously good. This album has hit me particularly hard, though. Every track is incredibly groovy (duh), but there are a few faves in there, like "On Your Face" and "Burning Bush".
Destiny's Child - The Writing's On The Wall: 90's R&B never fails to make me happy. Plus the drums and percussion on this are RIDICULOUS. So many things happening at the sam time and I can't deal with it. Favorite thing on this so far is the sexy synth bass intro to "Now That She's Gone".
Michael Jackson - Thriller: Nothing needs to be said. It's just the best.

These are a few of the gigs I've got coming up this month:

6/3: Joaqin's Senior Recital - Eugene, OR
6/9-10: San Diego Festival of the Arts w/ Craig Chee and Sarah Maisel, Abe Lagrimas Jr., and more - San Diego, CA
6/10: Hale Ukulele Bass Workshop - San Diego, CA
6/23: Connor and My Friends (filling in for Sam Mendoza) - Eugene, OR

Take care of yourselves, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all soon!
